Which is your favorite fashion shopping city? Yes, of course, New York, Paris, London, and Milan are all amazing - but I would argue that Copenhagen stands right there with the fashion heavyweights. Is it that the Scandi aesthetic is more appealing to me? Perhaps. But I would still firmly argue that Copenhagen is one of the best fashion cities in the world and has so much to offer. So, when I found myself with a 7-hour layover in Copenhagen (apologies in advance for the no shoe try-ons), I hit the city and its stores.
The Curated
My first stop, as always, is The Curated flagship store. This brand, for those of you who do not know, stands for classic basics and exceptional quality at honest prices - in my opinion, faring better in quality than some of the luxury houses. While not a Danish brand (I believe the founder lives in Norway), they opened their flagship store in Copenhagen so you can try and touch their coats, cashmere, and silk basics all you want. I have plenty of pieces from this brand, including a coat, blazers, sweaters, tops, bags, and a trench, and the quality is unmatched. I still wonder how this brand stays in business - their items have such longevity. For example, my coat that I bought in 2021 and wear daily in winter still looks like new. So, I was eager to try the new pieces from the brand.
Most recently, they launched jeans, and since I am in the market for a new pair, I wanted to check them out. The jeans looked great—my size was probably somewhere between L and XL—but I am still a bit on the fence about blue jeans. I feel like they work best if you have a neutral wardrobe, but if it's more colorful, they are much harder to match than, for example, gray jeans.
I also tried the crewneck above, which I loved—I took it in size S, so this model is definitely oversized. This was probably my favorite piece from the try-on, and of course, I enjoyed a knitted skirt and a relaxed T-shirt as well.
I also tried the New York coat, which is quite structured. While the quality is amazing, I still prefer the dropped shoulders of the classic one. The short trench jacket was a pleasant surprise and looked quite good. So, quite a few pieces to add to my wishlist and consideration.
Lie Studio
Another brand I was eager to check out is Lie Studio, which has recently opened a flagship store in Copenhagen. I first discovered Lie Studio when I was looking for a beaded silver necklace and saw one on Anouk Yve, the queen of polished, relaxed outfits. Since then, I’ve been following Lie Studio and their new offerings. This brand initially struck me as quite expensive for what seems like a minimal design. However, after browsing around the internet for similar pieces, I always come back to this brand because its design is exactly what you need - nothing more, nothing less. After the in-store try-on, my eyes are now on the beautiful Olivia necklace (left), which is slightly longer than my previous pick - the Elly necklace (right).
