Tibi Summer Sale Pieces: Where Are They Now
Cost Per Wear and Reality vs. Expectations for Tibi Sale Pieces I Got 6 Months Ago
Happy New Year! As we Tibi fans know, the new year also marks the start of the Tibi sale, a real test of temptation. During the last summer sale, I managed to buy just a few select pieces. I got 6 items, and it's always interesting to compare the expectations vs. the reality of these purchases – often, there's a big difference (as I learned reviewing last year’s winter sale).
1. T-Shirt Dress in Heather Gray: 5 wears, 23 EUR Cost per Wear (CPW)
Expectations: I didn't plan to buy this dress initially, but it kept catching my eye during the sale. The heather gray color and a feminine, refined silhouette seemed like a great match, especially seeing it on other Tibi fans.
Reality: I'm so glad I bought it! It's been part of some of my favorite outfits this year. It's relaxed, feminine, and the heather gray keeps it from being too formal.
2. Compact Ultra Stretch Knit Lean Sleveless Dress: 3 wears, 93 EUR CPW
Expectations: I love Tibi's compact stretch material, and a dress with sleeves is always on my wishlist. Choosing the color was tough – the rust isn't typically my style, but it's the most casual option compared to white, violet, and black.
Reality: This dress is fantastic. It's my go-to for semi-formal events like theater and conferences in summer. However, I did need to alter it quite a bit – it was too open at the armpits, and I did not like the exaggerated shape of the padded shoulders on me. Even with these changes, it's become a favorite.
3. Black Denim Skirt: 4 wears, 56 EUR CPW
Expectations: This skirt was all over my Tibi fan feed, looking great on everyone. It seemed like a perfect addition to my wardrobe, especially for fuller figures.
Reality: Its size needs to be just right to work well, and the large slit makes it tricky for formal occasions. I swapped it with another fan as the original was too big for me - even after the swap, I didn't wear it as much as I thought I would.
4. Drapey Jersey Lantern Skirt: 3 wears, 83 EUR CPW
Expectations: I love the jersey fabric and liked the skirt's interesting shape. Long skirts can be as convenient as pants, as they are much less fussy than midi and mini skirts.
Reality: The skirt's heavier material feels great, but it leans a bit bohemian, which requires some balancing in the outfit – maybe with masculine shoes or sportier elements.
5. Italian Sporty Nylon Sleeveless Cocoon Top in Toffee: 3 wears, 59 EUR CPW
Expectations: In my quest for refined tops, I'm drawn to any Tibi tops that offer some arm coverage. This one's color and easy nylon fabric clinched it for me.
Reality: The top is quite “big” with its cocoon shape. I've put together some nice outfits with it, like pairing it with a mini skirt. However, its size means it needs a specific slim bottom, which I don't always have.
6. Soft Drape Slim Shirt: 0 wears :(
Expectations: Its beautiful color, slinky material, and classic silhouette seemed perfect for dressing up or down.
Reality: Can you believe it's still with tags? It's too long to wear untucked, and tucking anything in has been an issue for me recently due to weight shifts. I still have hope for it, though – it's too good to just sit in my closet.
Conclusions
To be honest, I'm quite surprised after writing this post to see how infrequently I've actually worn these pieces. In my mind, I spent the entire summer in the T-shirt dress, but in reality, I've only worn it a few times. Yes, it might be too soon to achieve significant wear from these items, as I purchased them towards the end of the summer.
Interestingly, the pieces I picked up at the second markdown (the T-shirt dress and the compact stretch dress) have become my favorites. This might suggest that it's worth getting a piece if it continues to catch your attention over time. However, this does make me pause and think more critically about the upcoming sale, specifically regarding how and where I will wear these pieces. Hope it gives you some food for thought for the upcoming sale and let me know your experience with the sale season below!
