There are many things in life that are exciting, and a Tibi collection drop is definitely one of them. You are guaranteed to see interesting shapes, new takes, and get a glimpse of the next season and where the Tibi aesthetic—and fashion more broadly—is moving. The new Fall collection is now available in the Coming Soon section yesterday, and Fall Fundamentals (core pieces) dropped a few weeks ago. Long-time fans often say that fall and resort collections are usually the best, and I agree—there's plenty to choose from, and it's a quite pushed collection. Here are my picks and favorites that I am considering and recommending to others.
The Buys
Thomas Menswear Check Detached Shirt
Whenever I see a combo of a shirt and a blazer from Tibi, I know it is a winning combo for my semi-casual life. This looks like such a combo, with the additional feature of a detachable collar to wear it in multiple ways. I am looking forward to seeing it styled in the style classes and seeing more real-life examples of how it falls. It could be an unassuming yet tailored and edgy shirt-blazer to throw on anything.
Grey Denim Barry Jean
If you look at recent Instagram stories, the Tibi team explains why gray denim is such a good choice. I am really puzzled by the need for such explanations—of course, it is the best choice! My favorite denim is gray, followed by acid wash. Their capacity to complement any color you want is neutral but not boring, and they do not require the careful balancing that blue wash does. Of course, it is a matter of taste, but gray denim is exactly up my alley. I secretly hoped Tibi would do a Newman jean in gray, but the Barry silhouette seems very interesting as well—looking forward to learning more about it!
Gary Print On Stretch Crepe Pencil Skirt
Tibi’s prints are in a league of their own (no wonder, as the company started with prints). I guess you could call this snail print an animal print? In any case, it is fresh, sharp, and interesting, and aligns with my plans for a more colorful, patterned, and interesting future wardrobe. The skirt silhouette seems to have stretch and is simple enough not to distract from the print—a go from me.
Asymmetric Neckline Pullover, Vest, and Polo
Tibi Wool Jersey V-Neck Tennis Vest & Pullover
Now, this is how Tibi does preppy, with its own interesting take. I love the asymmetrical necklines, which say, "Yes, I am preppy, polished, and in control, but also busy, disheveled, running after a bus? I have a life that is spontaneous and in motion." All of this is conveyed by a neckline alone—the magic of Tibi. Below is another version of this in the polo. Pick your version—to me, the pullover seems extremely interesting.
Crispy Nylon Kat Jogger
Crispy Nylon Kat Jogger in Gray and Navy
When I tried the Kat jogger in Tibi's flagship store in the beautiful sand color, I thought it looked really good. The only thing that would make me want it more is if it came in gray or navy. Well, here it is! I have the black version of the Felix jogger, and it is indestructible even with a toddler, and probably the best travel pant I’ve had. I think the Kat in gray could be a similar competitor. And if Stella pants are your vibe, these new nylon colors are available in Stella as well.
The Maybes
Soft Lambswool Half Cardigan
If you look around TRR or old Tibi collections, you will see some half cardigans released before—and this is what Tibi does so well. Unique, third-piece, but still functional pieces that make the outfit. I am sometimes a bit reserved about these due to my larger bust (some of them work and others do not if you have a fuller shape due to subtle details that I have not figured out yet), but I will be following to see how these look in the style classes.
Grey Denim Sid Jean
Given my love for gray denim, it is almost like a cue to finally invest in Sid jeans. They definitely look stunning on so many people, and I much prefer this silhouette to the Tuck jean. I am still considering, though, as I do not wear that many big bottoms, so I am still a bit unsure if this will be worn a lot. I guess I need to think about it more, but for Sid lovers, this is an amazing color.
Skinlike Mercerized Wool Soft Sheer Pullover & Cardigan
Skinlike Mercerized Wool Soft Sheer Pullover & Cardigan
I personally believe rich green and lime green will be seen a lot in fashion during the coming years, and Tibi does the rich colors so well, then balances them out with their own dirty-ish neutrals or ring 3 colors. These two are just great and provide a wonderful balance to the earthy browns or even indigo washes that are probably already available in your wardrobe.
Dwayne Sandal
I’ve seen the Dwayne sandal in the style classes, and the way Amy (Tibi founder) explained it is that the solid footbed means that you can wear it in the fall with a sock without looking out of place like you would with slimmer footbed shoes. That makes a lot of sense, and indeed it brings that slightly masculine, solid edge to a look, which I really like.
Camel Hair Knit Cape
Now, this is just wow. Amy said about this one that they finally figured out a cape, and they really did. The unique, interesting structure makes it almost like outerwear, and it's definitely an outfit maker. I am sure there will be plenty of styling options shown for this one—it could be one of the most interesting pieces in the collection.
Melange Jersey Tucked Panel Skirt
Anything that says jersey immediately catches my attention, as it suggests a WFH-friendly option. The side that really caught my attention is the fairly slim silhouette and the irregular panels and seams. They give some kind of interest to the skirt. At the same time, the biggest accent is the balloon-ish structure, which I need to see more of to decide if this is the one.
Baby Rain Bootie
Finding fashion friendly rain boots is a never-ending struggle, and Tibi has made its proposition. It is definitely intriguing, but I need to see more to be sure. I wonder how it will look with the sock in reality, does the foot breathe, etc. However, I love that there is a solution to the rainy weather problem, which is usually a big part of the year where I live.
Interesting hemline tops
Melee Crepe Long Sleeve Cropped Top and Tank Top
I must admit something—I am not a fan of tucking things in. Therefore, there is an endless search for pieces that would look good without the tuck, and these hemlines make me very intrigued. Simple enough to be worn over a usual piece, but interesting enough to not need additional styling. I am curious to explore how they look on body shapes similar to mine.
Great Pieces, But Not for Me
Power Mesh Skirt
If you missed the big sheer trend, here is a fairly simple and unassuming option for the winter. It seems simple enough to style but with the usual Tibi twist. I personally struggle to wear sheer pieces in my life, but have seen so many people style them in amazing ways - and this could be a neutral enough piece with an edge.
Majeur Boucle Shrunken Cardigan Jacket
This is the closest you will get to if Tibi and Chanel had a baby, and I love it. Even though it is not my lifestyle, every time I look at this piece, it goes up my priority list. I will love to see it styled more to gauge how it looks on different body shapes, but if you want a structured jacket that is still CP, this is the way to go.
Gabe Oversized Shirt
Last year, I accidentally got my hands on a similar color Cos shirt, which was shipped to me by mistake—and oh boy, this color is magic. You can already see it styled by Tibi stylists and how well it meshes with the Ring 3 pieces. It is almost a bit of a neutral, but a super bright one, which is an interesting combination. If I did not have this color already, I’d go after it for sure.
Perfect T-Shirt Shrunken Crewneck With Straps
Last year Amy was showing how to wear her bodysuit open, and I tried it. It did not look good (or intentional for that matter). This, on the other hand, does look good and not like you forgot to snap it up. If pushing the boundaries is your fashion approach, it is a very good and structured piece to consider.
So this is it - these are my picks! What are your favorites from Tibi Fall collection?
