Your entire first paragraph hit me hard for how familiar the feelings you talked about are to me. I loved these tips 🫶

Thank you so much for this. I'm thinking about it a lot lately for a wide range of reasons. It's particularly timely given the big Matches sale. I have found myself combing through, looking for things I don't need – not for my current lifestyle, but for some imagined life? Or for things I think I'd regret not getting on sale if I realized I needed them later? I have a wardrobe full of clothing I'm not wearing enough as it is. I know there are holes in it, and I know it would be better to fill those holes with something on super sale than at whatever absurd full price things are going for... but it would also be better to fill those holes with something I actually need, want, will wear. It's a hard balance to strike! Appreciate all these points to make sure I'm asking myself the right questions.

I know what you mean.. I sometimes get into this like it is a job - to comb through all sales and find the only, best, right option and not miss out on anything :) need to constantly remind myself not to spend my downtime scrolling sale sites as it just fills the head with noise about different pieces I could buy!

YES. like it’s my job - exactly. Honestly, it’s making me depressed. And I keep talking to people even outside these chats who are having the same experience. I need to get out of this cycle!

This is brilliant! I’ve been pondering this exact topic in my own life lately, as I set a no-buy goal which ultimately led me to shop way more than I would have if I didn’t set any strict rules to begin with. It’s crazy how psychological the act of wanting, then buying, then styling and wearing (or not) can be. I definitely notice myself being more thrilled sith the buying than the wearing at certain times which is closely related to general stress in my life. So thank you for these practical tips to keep myself and my interest in fashion from becoming a dopamine junkyard!

Indeed! The dopamine junkyard is a good way to put it :) The irony is that we all know what to do, just the execution is not so easy with social media and fashion messages barraging from everywhere!
