When I started writing this blog and analyzing fashion more deeply, I noticed that some trends shift seemingly overnight (like skinny jeans giving way to baggy jeans), while others take years to evolve. This NYFW, I didn’t see many revolutions, to be honest - more a deepening of trends we’ve been watching for a while. Maybe that’s because my feed is full of Substack early adopters? Anyway, let’s see what NYFW brought us.
Big Pendant Necklaces

If you’re following fashion, this trend is impossible to miss. Everyone is using a long pendant to add interest to their outfits. And it works - it’s such an easy way to elevate a minimal look. I only own one pendant necklace, but I’ve been eyeing this one via
.Pink and a Touch of Cobalt Blue

When it comes to color trends, pink is everywhere this year. Rachel Comey showed several pieces with pink accents, and it popped up across many other collections too. I love it - pink pairs beautifully with neutrals and chocolate browns, so it’s a win for me this season. Another standout was a cobalt-ish blue, spotted at both Celine and Rachel Comey. Yes, we still saw plenty of brown and the usual red accents, but these two colors felt the freshest.
So Much Drape

We are firmly in the drape era now, and I couldn’t be happier. Draping is so flattering for fuller bodies and adds softness in place of the extreme edginess of past trends. The most pronounced example is balloon/harem pants, which are shaping up to be the pant of the year, along with similar skirt silhouettes (by the way, I’ve done a post on how to make harem pants from a skirt). But it’s not just bottoms - tops are draped, dresses are folded and layered, and I’m here for all of it.
Peplum Silhouette

If there’s one silhouette of the season, it’s peplum. I first spotted it at COS, but it’s showing up across the board. I don’t own any peplum pieces (my 5-year-old does, lol), but this one from Cos seems like a good entry point - and fashion girls are loving it.
Fur, Fringe and Texture

We’re still seeing plenty of fringe and other textured pieces, but this year fur is joining the mix - yes, even for spring. I’ve already fallen for these fringed beauties from Gia Borghini, and if I pull the trigger on the loafers below, that’ll be my way of playing with the trend.

I loved this! All very accessible trends to recreate in my suburban lifestyle 😆 x
